What Does It Take to Be an Animator?

The animation career has similarities. 3 D animation jobs and the 2 D animation job skill sets are fairly close when planning and starting an animation project. The basic algorithms that both 2 D and 3 D animation based themselves on are similar no matter the tools or methods being used. The similarities are most clear when conducting work within a wire frame format. The computer animated 3 D environment is powerful, yet each skill relies on the other to get the desired effect.

Kinds of Animation

A perfect example is lighting. Both use the same concepts to create lighting effects. Another example is rendering techniques. Both use rendering techniques taught in 2 D. The differences start to show once the object or character after rendering has occurred. At this time the 3 D visual aspects break away from their 2 D cousin. In order to understand 3 D animation, it is critical you first master the 2 D aspect.

3D animation training and working with characters to bring them to life is not as easy as it seems. Yet with practice, anyone can create visual effects that can rival the big animation studios. Working with an in-depth knowledge of 2 D graphics and 3 D animation, you can easily create website, design products, and create video games that are polished and professional looking. To get to this level takes a good understanding of graphics and an even stronger knowledge of computer software.

High End Graphic Software

If you plan to use some of the high-end branded software like 3 D Studio Max or Maya, there will be a very large learning curve. Other skills that come in handy are those that make use Photoshop. Knowing how to manipulate 2 D drawings and photos come in handy for the animator. A person can easily gain this experience by taking a few classes at the many universities and trade schools which teach the subject. Usually all computer animation courses will start with a 2 D course work and work their way into 3 D animation or the digital arts. Another option is to find the animation information online. At no time in history has it ever been easier to find good solid animation education online. Give it a try to see what is available.

The Basics - What You Need To Know To Begin

1) Creation of primary characters by using the bouncing ball principle.

2) Understanding the anatomy of the character and setting models with the help of knowledge in proportions.

3) Color theory knowledge.

4) Bone structure and skin textures.

5) Color rendering.

Know These To Begin Competing Against Other Animators

1) Modeling the character and understanding the mesh tool.

2) Shading skills.

3) Sketching and rigging skills.

4) Computer software knowledge and making use of it.

Top Dog Skills - Advanced Hardcore 3D Animation Skills

1) Conceptualizing an animation along with facial features and creating full fleshed characters.

2) Making short animation movie.

3) Shading, lighting and rendering using layers.

4) Giving the last fluid effect. This is the art of using all the packages together along with sketching to get the perfect in 3d animation.

5) If you are lucky enough to master all the skills above, you may find yourself with an amazing job. Some of the top animators work for Disney, Pixar and DreamWorks, with a little hard work, you may one day work for one of the three.

Legendary Pokemon and Master Balls

There is a lot of species in the Pokemon World, some truly might be rarer than others. But legends are told of Pokemon who rule or represent certain things. Pokemon that meet these requirements are called Legendary Pokemon. They are incredibly rare and often very powerful Pokemon. Some will show themselves to worthy trainers. Like the legendary Ho-oh of the Johto region who will only come out when a trainer has proven that they trust their Pokemon and together as a team are unstoppable. You also must have the rainbow wing and you may challenge them.

Some Legendary Pokemon lurk around the region and you may run into them in the wild at random notice. For example, Entei, Suicune, and Raikou can be caught in the wild but they will flee at the first chance they get, it is tough to capture these types of legendary Pokemon.

Others maybe be called forth using tools and equipment. Team Galactic used the Red Chain, Lustrous Orb,and Adamant Orb to call forth Dialga and Palkia. They are ancient and trainers who see such Pokemon are usually very lucky and determined. To capture such a Pokemon, it takes a lot of work. Legend Pokemon are usually at very high level for power and won't go down without a long fight. If a trainer has the powerful Master Ball, which is a Pokeball that can capture any Pokemon without failure, the legendary Pokemon can be caught without a fight. However, you can't just go to the PokeMart and buy fifty master balls. Master Balls are extremely rare, most trainers only succeed in getting one single Master Ball on their journey as a reward for working so hard for their goal. But even with that said, Master Balls, just like Legendary Pokemon, are rare and usually lucky for a trainer to receive. You must use the Master Ball wisely, there is for sure more than just one Legendary Pokemon in the world, only one you can use the Master Ball on while the rest you'll have to capture in battle! It may be a tough task, but if you want to catch them all, its a task you'll have to face on the Pokemon journey.

Learning How To Create An Animation

The technology available today makes learning how to create an animation quite simple if you are ok with using software and programs created by some technical geniuses. I call them geniuses because it's amazing how inexpensive and user-friendly some of the animation products are.

What's the most important factor you should consider when looking for software to help you create an animation? Finding the right product, that is within your price range, one that can work with your system and is user-friendly.

Finding the right product - Clearly you want a product that meets all of your needs regarding the type of animation you want to create. There are some very basic programs available that will allow you to create some simple animation that is more antiquated and probably to basic for what you are looking to do.

You might even consider looking for some free software if you just want to take a look at something like stick figure animation. However, please make sure you trust the site you are going to download software from to avoid downloading a virus.

How much should you spend to learn how to create an animation? Well, if animation is going to be your career, obviously you will most likely invest the amount of money you need to in-order to achieve the success that you are looking for. However, if you are just kicking the tires and seeing what can be created using software specifically designed to help the technically challenged folks create animation I would suggest that you spend less than $100.00. Once you get a feel for what you want to do you might find the need to spend more.

Finding the right system to learn how to create an animation - The right system for you in my opinion is one in which you can start learning and applying what you learn immediately. It's no fun getting software and instructions that take weeks to understand and keep you from building knowledge and skill from day 1. It's also important to find a product that delivers on what it promises.

Learning how to create an animation is not overly complicated or expensive these days. There are many choices available and I'm sure you can find one that meets all of your needs.

I would like to suggest that you do some research on line and read up on some of the 3d animation products available. The one I like is called IllusionMage because it meets my price range of under $100, has a money back guarantee, comes with a ton of features and is simple to use. Don't overlook this product when you conduct your research. To see more about how to create an animation, read here; IllusionMage

These cartoons will undoubtedly be a great starting place, if you are looking to kick of your cartoon watching career. In addition to that there are certain cartoons that are obviously geared toward adults and teens, though they often display mature situations or even extreme violence.

There are many who will say that watching cartoons, even adult anime is utterly immature, but a few things need to be taken into consideration before this conclusions is actually reached.

Pikachu, I Choose You As My Pokemon

A cute little electric mouse, the only rodent you would want living with you! Cute and fuzzy, and the use of electricity at your fingertips. Pikachu is the mascot used for almost everything to sponsor Pokemon in general. If you ask someone what a Pokemon is, Pikachu would probably be in the mix of probabilities. Ash Ketchum, the star of the popular television series received a Pikachu from Professor Oak to start his journey. Ash and Pikachu have became best friends over the time they have spent together.

Pikachu can evolve into a much powerful electric rodent named Raichu. Raichu is more powerful but Pikachu loses some of his chubby cuteness but not all of it, of course, when evolved into a Raichu. In order to evolve Pikachu you need a Thunderstone, a Thunderstone is a fairly rare item used to make some Pokemon evolve. For example, if you use a Thunderstone on an Eevee, it will evolve into a Jolteon. But Pikachu being in the middle of cuteness and power goes back another step and becomes mainly just cute.

Yes, Pikachu has a pre-evolved form named Pichu. Pichu is practically adorable and is a baby Pokemon. You would probably want to evolve a Pichu into a Pikachu if you want to use him in any Pokemon battles. To evolve Pichu, one must use happiness. If an item called a Soothe Bell is attached to Pichu it will become happier and trust you a bit faster. It might be kind of hard to evolve a Pichu, but with dedication you will have a Pikachu.

Pikachu can also get a special move called Volt Tackle, it is very powerful but causes recoil. If you want a special Pikachu with this move you must breed two Pikachu and one of them must be holding a Light Ball. When the Pichu hatches from the egg you will have a Volt Tackle Pichu. Pikachu is a famous Pokemon and it's evolutions are sort of popular but definitely not as popular as Pikachu! Pikachu will always be a favorite among the people who like furry, cuddly, electric rodents.

3D Animation - Tips for Finding the Best Software

3D animation is the creation of moving images in a three-dimensional digital environment by carefully sequencing consecutive images, or "frames", to simulate motion. When this simulation is achieved, each frame gradually progresses to the next image to fool your eyes into believing that actual motion has taken place when, in fact, the perceived sense of motion is the result of the images being displayed in quick succession.

Until recently, 3D animation software was only available to major creative studios and film companies. However, It is now possible for anyone to develop great animation skills without going to a special school to study animation.

The recent drop in price of feature-rich packages has made these powerful tools available to everyone and, following the huge success of animated films and the increasing popularity of 3D television, there's never been a better time to think about a career in 3D animation.

According to salary.com, the average salary for an entry-level animator in 2007 ranged from $47,000 to more that $60,000. 3D game animators could even earn as much as $70,000.

But where do you start?

I'm not going to lie - bringing characters to life is not easy. You will need a ton of practice using good quality tools to master the basic 3D animation skills that will give the perfect foundation for moving onto more advanced animations. These include:

Creating character setting models with the help of knowledge in proportionsColour theory and renderingModelling your characters and understanding mesh toolsShading, lighting and rendering using layersSketching and rigging skills

There's a lot of jargon there but the right 3D animation software will guide you to make the process of creating your first animations as easy as possible.

Bear in mind that 3D animation packages vary a lot in the level of functionality and complexity that they offer. As a beginner, you're looking for a perfect balance levels of both: the right features you need to make good quality animations without being so difficult to understand that you're completely bamboozled and don't know where to start.

When looking for 3D animation software, make sure it includes the following features:

3D modelling - the software should support a wide range of 3D objects and allow you to perform complex functions on them to ensure your 3D models are as realistic as possibleCartoon and game generation - with the proper software you can create the same quality animations as Pixar and Sony!Complex shading - to maximise realise, make sure the software allows you to create any texture you might needInteractive 3D rigging - 3D rigging allows you to recreate real world structures and is a core feature for any 3D animation software3D editing & compositing - the best packages allow you to quickly edit scenes "on the fly" so you can spend more time being creativeCompatibility with standard home PCs - very few people can afford to spend 1,000s on a high-end computer so make sure the software uses resources wisely to avoid frustrating performance issuesEasy to use interface - the interface should allow to fully configure every aspect of the screen and provide simple one-click operation of common featuresComprehensive training videos & illustrated guidesUnlimited software upgrades - 3D animation is a fast-moving industry and the last thing you want is to miss out on the next must have feature; make sure any package you buy allows you to keep up with any future developments.

All of Clark Kent's Friends (Including Lois) Must Be Idiots - It's Just a Pair of Glasses, Right?

Are all of Clark Kent's friends at the Daily Planet complete morons? I mean, it's just a pair of glasses...right? I have heard this question (usually it comes in the form of an ignorant [no offense] statement) posited on more than one occasion.

In order to completely answer this question we need to understand a couple of things:

First of all, the Superman story has been around for a very long time. This subject alone could fill a volume.

Second, Superman spans more than one era in the comics (Golden Age, Silver Age, etc.), and exists across more than one medium (comics, radio, television, etc.)

Keeping these two facts in mind, we realize that there will be minor inconsistencies found (like whether or not Clark Kent sends out a "psychic signal" to confuse his friends as sometimes portrayed on the radio) no matter where we look. I have done my best to stick to the facts whenever possible, but sometimes issues such as height include references from comics and film combined.

Let's begin by taking a subjective look at the DC Universe. True Subjectivity is somewhat philosophical in nature and oftentimes transcends empathy as there is a major difference between "putting yourself in someone else's shoes" and "being that person".

For our intensive purposes, I will explain it like this:

We as consumers of DC Comics are watching what is going on "from the outside looking in". We are seeing the story, and believe Clark Kent and Superman to be one and the same person...we know Superman's secret identity is that of Clark Kent. In fact, here on earth in OUR universe, most of the planet would agree this is true. However, people such as Lois, Jimmy, and Chief White are in the DC Universe. This makes a huge difference, Folks. You see, when we read comics we know Spider-Man is Peter Parker, Superman is Clark Kent, Bruce (David) Banner is the Hulk, Bruce Wayne is Batman, etc. We expect a superhero to have an alter-ego or secret identity. In the DC Universe, people see Superman every day. These same people see Clark too...BUT in the DC Universe no one expects Superman to even have a secret identity. Why would he? He is all-powerful and obviously doesn't even need one! If you were in the DC Universe, chances are you would never even consider the idea of superheroes having secret identities. Even if you obsessed about Superman all day long (think Lex Luthor), and happened to be the greatest criminal mind of our time, eventually you would likely come to the conclusion that god-like abilities eliminate the need for an everyday human existence.

The above is only the first of many reasons why even smart girls like Lois have trouble finding the similarities. Remember as well, Supes has high-speed and can change his appearance in a flash. Keeping all of this in mind, here are some more arguments for Lois and Jimmy...

#2 Clark Kent is 6'3"/Superman is 6"4 (with boots on). If one is 6'3" in shoes and walks with an entirely different gait/slouch, they appear as tall but not overly or noticeably so. The threshhold separating tall from noticeably tall is about 6'3".

#3 Clark Kent has straight, dark hair usually parted on the right or sweeping forward and down and often covering ear-tips. It is neatly groomed and kempt. Superman has Blue-Black wavy hair sometimes parted on the left which sweeps up and back in an unruly fashion...all except for that serpentine lock on the forehead.

#4 Clark's eyebrows (which may or may not receive pencil attention) are mostly hidden by thick-rimmed glasses whereas Kal's aren't.

#5 Superman's Steel-Blue eyes don't fade from memory easily, yet Clark Kent's Aqua-Grey eyes can be easily dismissed...especially when those glasses have that yellow tint in them. Yellow/Amber and Blue-Grey make Green or Dark.

#6 A nose looks different with specs perched on top of it.

#7 Clark often shows his pearly-whites in an inoffensively good-looking way. That "awe-shucks" grin we are all familiar with. Superman smiles more with his eyes and keeps his mouth generally closed.

#8 Clark Kent's higher-pitched voice is usually asking a question and has that "interrogative inflection" at the end of a sentence...you know, when you ask a question and your voice becomes higher at the end? Supes is generally making a statement when speaking at all and does so in a softer, gentler, yet deeper-pitched voice. Clark uses a lot of "ums and ahs"...S. doesn't.

#9 Clark Kent has a pale-to-average colored complexion which appears so due to a combination of factors which include (but are not limited to) breath control (run around the block then look in the mirror, you are darker and flushed), perspiration (you are also sweating and that shine got rid of your make-up too!), the contrast between glasses/clothes, etc. Superman (who btw get's power from our yellow sun) has an average-to-dark skin tone.

#10 Clark prefers monochromatic colors and tones for his suits, but the big 'S' looks seriously good in the primary three.

There you have it, Folks. Ten-plus reasons why even the smartest gal in the DC Universe can't tell the difference.
